these words were heard just a few (or 32) times throughout our yesterday in ALL the anticipation of our valentine tradition.....a candle lit dinner.
a few small special somethings by each of the girls' plates
along with some handmade decorations AND it's a fancy meal for 4!!
on the menu:
*baked rigatoni with onions & parmesan (delightfully simple & yummy)
*roasted eggplant & asparagus
*ciabatta
*sparkling apple juice
AND
*chocolate dipped (or drenched) pears and bananas!!
this has become our "heart day" tradition for a few years now.....the girls LOVE it
and for the parents it's relaxing.....there's something peaceful about eating in the dark with only a few bee's wax tea lights to distinguish faces, utensils, and food!
*yet another reminder of how simple gestures can be SOOOO fancy and exciting in the eyes of a child*

I love it! Your kids are going to have the sweetest memories of their life. You are so right, the simple things in life are best. Always. No questions asked. Tre asked if I wanted to go out to dinner and something about spending an evening in the company of strangers didn't appeal to me. Candlelight dinner with all my loves would be perfect!
great tradition Kera!! per usual for you :) We had a "fancy" meal on friday night. Phil cooked & we ate @ the big table. Thats fancy for us :) Next time we'll add the candles. Very nice touch! Love & Miss YOU HUN!
What a sweet idea! We'll have to start something like that next year. All we could think about this year was getting Sophie to her Grammy's so we could have a nice dinner out together...alone!! :)
LOVE your Valentine tradition! And great pics of the snow :) And the dancing girls - love love love it all!
