Tree Chopping....

We ventured off to a new place to chop down our tree this year via a recommendation of some friends.....while we love our tree I think we'll head back to our favorite place in the middle of nowhere next year!! As the sign states below it was very nursery-ish with perfect rows of perfect trees! That's perfect for some but I LOVE the place we've been to the last couple years.....there is nothing perfect about the trees or the directions to get there or the people or the run down equipment......it's perfectly imperfect & I love that!!
This is also the time where we snap some pictures for our Christmas card......I will be completely honest that it was super stressful this year.....I don't know why, maybe because I kind of had an idea of what I wanted & to execute that while also being the photographer was a little to much for me to handle......& being on crutches added to the happiness {insert sarcasm!}! We did capture some sweet moments......
THIS WAS NOT STAGED & NEVER HAPPENS!
.......there was even some fun involved......
........but it felt like more than not we were pulling kids off us
dealing with wind blown hair in the face shots.......
moving hands at the exact moment little fingers snapped the picture......
 ......begging for cooperation
not getting cooperation, leaving parents &........
 kids frustrated!!
In the end this was the shot we chose to adorn the card......maybe some fake happiness on those faces in moments of frustration BUT I walked away with 2 things. I contacted a photographer & booked professional pictures to be taken next spring {we've NEVER had professional pictures taken-gasp!!} & I realized we're just like my favorite tree farm......perfectly imperfect!! Most days are good but we are extremely imperfect & that's ok!!

It didn't take much searching to find a tree because as previously mentioned these are all perfect trees {minus the little bit of dead stuff at the bottom which was cut off}!
A little sawing......
 a LOT of tugging.....
 .....& she was loaded up!
It was an extremely beautiful day & we soaked it in despite some crankiness!
On our way home we stopped at the cutest little cabin-ish home......EVERYTHING inside & out had a cabin feel to it.....
& the view......SHUT UP!! I could totally live here.....the girls were very unimpressed......err scared of the dramatic drop off!
We decided some crankiness was due to low blood sugar levels so pizza from Crust was in order!
It worked a little......
......for some of us at least....
.....the food was delish though.....
& we devoured almost every thing......
AND in the end I realized you can't win 'em all......I think I personally put too much expectations on "you must be overly happy & excited when we've planned something that is suppose to be fun".......in the end I only have myself to blame for my let down due to cranky behavior......after all we are perfectly imperfect!

Thanksgiving

We hosted Thanksgiving this year.....the only things missing were Jon's family......otherwise the day, the company, & the food was PERFECT!! I couldn't have asked for anything better!! We were scrunched in but it was a reminder that we are all alive & present on this earth & we were together.....knocking elbows!! Cliche' as that is.....if you know anything about our year you know that my younger sister kissed deaths door for 14 minutes while my niece was in her belly. So the fact that they both were present sitting across from me made my thankfulness burst!
I put together a thankful tree......
each place setting had a wooden pencil simply tied in yarn with a piece of paper to write your thankful on & then attach to the tree with the tiny clothespin
I rarely am able to use this silver.....but when I do it comes with the special memory of my grandparents who are no longer on this earth! This was gifted to Jon & I on our wedding day!
While Jon & I finish last minute to do's prior to company arriving Kayden had busied herself with fabric scraps & yarn
This banner was the end result! LOVE her creativity!
Only downfall to hosting......not being able to indulge in the Macy's Day Parade....I have fond memories as a child of the women in our family busily preparing for dinner while the kids gawked at float after float!
  The kitchen was BUSY!
Can you say FULL belly post this consumption?
Welch's Sparkling anything.....YUM!
Someone got antsy & needed to roam
 Post thankful posting's.....
We all had to roll away from the table & rest on the couch before returning to attack this mess......
but we promptly hit the couch again for talking, laughing, knitting.....
being silly......
pulling hair......
AND the finale of the night.....having some fun with the Hughes Photo Booth....Thanksgiving Style!! I wish I could insert all the laughing!

Much past 9:00pm we realized why the kids started crying & whining & why the adults started dozing off again, it was much past 9:00pm......as we said our good-byes & locked the door Jon & I repeatedly said......"that was the best Thanksgiving yet".......it just might have been.....for multiple reasons!
