My mom has always made birthdays and holidays extra special......we loved it as kids and looked forward to them!! It's not always about spending money that makes something memorable but time spent with family/friends and doing the same thing year after year that becomes special in the eyes of a child.....and quite truthfully me too, as an adult! So I want my kids to have those same feelings. So with that each 4th of July (or forch of uli as Emery Grae states it) we head down to Coolidge Park for music by the symphony (they do an awesome job), yummy food, the kids running around barefoot in the grass kicking balls and blowing bubbles and dancing, visiting with family and friends, relaxing, and watching the fireworks show! This is our 5th year going.....Kayden was 7 months old when we first went! It's always a fun time...some years hotter than others but a great time none the less!
Jon has gotten the packing of all our chairs, blankets, toys, food, ect down to a science with this wagon (which was a great purchase by my twin for her oldest daughter years ago)!
My oldest niece whose favorite holiday is the 4th and she LOVES to get ALL dressed up in all things red, white, and blue!
Watch a few planes put on a small show
The taco salad we eat every year.....simple to make and delicious to eat

Sparklers....of course....gotta have them!
I sat in my chair this year, able to give 100% of my attention the fireworks show (both kids were in Aumie's lap) and was overwhelmed with thoughts of how LUCKY I am to have the freedom I have.....I know that is what this holiday is all about but some years I can get really busy in the to do's of celebrating that I forget what we are celebrating. Extra special this year that the 4th fell on Sabbath (our church day) and I, most importantly, have the freedom to serve the GOD I love!
